Malcolm Cole

I have been involved in the building trade for over 25 years.
During my time in the building trade I have earnt my NZQA in carpentry and registered licensed building practitioner qualifications. After the Canterbury earthquakes I became heavily involved in the Canterbury rebuild 100k + cap repair program as a main contractor with my own building company.  The experience gained during this period of my career was invaluable.

In recent times I started up a construction management company assisting with project management and building industry advice. Helping people is my passion. People are not expected to know everything about construction so stepping into this role to give the client trusted advice and guidance lets me give something back to the industry.

I was also a building consultant assessing flood damage from the Auckland anniversary storm event. From there I travelled to the Hawkes Bay assessing damage to houses and land after cyclone Gabrielle. An amazing role that allowed me to help people get back on their feet.

Here at URBANZ we only employ experience. Our team is required to have at a minimum 20 years experience in the industry with any relevant qualifications. There is no substitute for experience in this game. We believe that time in the saddle makes a building consultant. That’s why we stand out.

Our range of building assessments

  • A comprehensive building report giving you peace of mind that your major investment is in good shape

  • Having a pre-sale inspection report done before you sell allows the selling of your home to be transparent for prospective buyers making for a quicker sale. It also allows you time to fix anything before going to market that could potentially hold up the sale.

  • We all know canterbury has a problem with failed and sub-standard repairs. This assessment is very important for both vendors and purchases. A comprehensive review of all documents and repairs completed on the property.

  • This assessment is focused mainly on houses sold at some point on an ' as is where is ' basis. We spend more time at the property reviewing previous repairs with our building investigating techniques. The main objective here is to confirm that all repairs and documentation is what it says it is.
